Dresser Dilemma

I was in need of a dresser.

I bought this dresser for $20 on Kijiji.

I am not sure what I should do with it…

Most of my furniture is dark-chocolate brown. This sits beside my closet which has white doors… I think it looks kinda good white.

The problem with keeping it white is that the front of the drawers under the {f-ugly} handles is slightly scratched (you can see it in the pic, it has left sort-of and outline), so even if I was to change the hardware, you would be able to see the outline of the old hardware…

Any suggestions? I was thinking spray paint the hardward black and put them back on….??
