My Top 7: Kennett Square // Mushroom Fest Edition
If you follow me on Twitter you would have seen two weekends ago I had the opportunity to attend the 27th Annual Mushroom Festival in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Yes there is a mushroom festival! Here are My Top 7 fav things about the festivities…
1. Hello 27th Annual Mushroom Fest! How cute are these admission bracelets?
2. Pumpkin Spice Mushroom Ice Cream. Yes, I am talking about pumpkin ice cream with mushrooms in it. I have a true love for everything pumpkin, and once Fall hits I know I can indulge in everything pumpkin. This ice cream was no exception – unique and delicious.
3. Seeing Season 4 Top Chef Antonia Latona cook on stage. She was very personable, charming, and funny. She demoed a Wild Mushroom Salad with a Poached Egg. Her chef secret, “Chefs add a poached egg to a dish and it instantly takes it up a level.” So true.
4. They festival crowned their very first Fried Mushroom Eating Champion – Jamie McDonald. He ate an astonishing 5.5lbs of mushrooms in 8 minutes.
5. Enjoyed the creamiest Mushroom Mac ‘n Cheese at Talula’s Table… it left me speechless… yup, no words!
6. Since I am a big seafood lover, I just had to have the Crab & Portabella Sandwich from a restaurant fittingly named Portobello’s. I only ended up enjoying half as I dropped the other half on the ground… yes, I’m a klutz like that…
7. It wasn’t all about the food… I fell in love with these little decorative mushrooms made out of rocks, and although I didn’t come home with one, I can foresee a little DIY project in my future…
What is the most unique festival you have ever attended?
