Holiday Week: DIY Wrapping Paper + Clay Gift Tags

I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off Holiday Week than to feature two of my favourite holiday DIY’s – Brown “Bark” Wrapping Paper + Easy Clay Gift Tags.

Brown paper is definitely under-utilized when it comes to Christmas gifts. I happen to love presents wrapped in brown paper and tied up with red & white ribbon – the simplicity is timeless. But for those who like to dress things up a bit, you would be amazed at what brown paper and metallic makers can do…

Homemade clay tags also add a nice surprise to any holiday gift, and the best part is they are very easy to make. You can purchase air dry clay at the Dollar Store or Michael’s. Roll clay flat using a rolling pin, and using a round or shaped cookie cutter, cut out several shapes. Using a rubber stamp (in my case I used snowflakes) press lightly into clay until stamp leaves a subtle mark. Leave clay to dry for 72 hours. Once dry, decorate tags however you wish – paint, glitter, ribbon!

Homemade clay tags can be used to top your brown paper wrapped gifts, on wine bottles, or an ornament on your tree.

How do you personalize your holiday gifts?
