The Best of the 2017 One of a Kind Show

Every November the One of A Kind Show rolls into town and I’m like a kid on Christmas morning! My eyes widen, my heart rate quickens… it’s easily the most exciting time of year! It’s truly amazing to see over 800 Canadian artisan gathered under one roof. The talent these people have is mind-blowing and they are all gracious enough to share it with us at this 10-day show! From ceramics and textiles to fine art and locally made food, the One of A Kind Show has something for everyone!

The Best of the 2017 One of a Kind Christmas Show

This year, a few of my co-workers and I played hooky (shhhh don’t tell the boss) and spent the entire day at the show! We spent hours walking from booth to booth, checking out all the unique pieces, and chatting with the vendors. It was a lovely way to get to know all the people who thoughtfully make, showcase, and sell their goods at this show.

With that, I am excited to present my 5th annual top 7 finds from the show!

Top 7 Finds from the 2017 One of a Kind Show

1. Akamina Studio, Bec Kilpatrick // Photography & Illustration

Akamina Studio is a beautiful collaboration between illustrator, Bec Kilpatrick, and photographer, Andrew Pavlidis. Their nature inspired art drew me into their booth immediately! I even went home with a stunning 8×10 copy of the “Wolf” illustration!

2. Lana Betty // Geometric Contemporary Jewelry

I’ve been on the lookout for suspender earrings for MONTHS now! When I mentioned them to Lana, she replied with “oh, I can custom make those for you!” How awesome is that? Her booth (and online shop) is filled with beautiful geometric jewelry, from necklaces to rings, Lana’s goldsmith skills are through the roof!

3. Ottercreek Woodworks // Live Edge Serving & Charcuterie Boards

If you are a long time reader of this blog you’d know I am a huge fan of charcuterie boards… and Dave’s boards are something to marvel at! All handmade in Tillsonburg, Ontario with local, sustainably sourced wood, these feasting boards would be the perfect gift for the entertainer in your life… Oh, and I’ll take two as well! 😉

4. The Otter Potter // Handmade Ceramic Jewelry and Decor Items

I love any type of little ceramic vessel you can put an airplant in (you’ll see I include one in my round-ups every year), but what drew me to Leora was… well Leora! The moment I walked by her booth in the “Rising Stars” section of the show she welcomed me in & encouraged me to take a look! Her passion for clay is clear!

5. Your Pal, Al // Handmade Concrete Home Decor

I’ve been following Allie on Instagram for a while now, and I am constantly amazed by her designs! Her handmade concrete planters are unique and rustic… my kind of style!

6. Sealuxe // Luxe Self Care Products

Free of any parabens, sulphates, petroleum, phthalates, chemicals, dyes or unnatural preservatives, SeaLuxe’s products are truly a work of nature! All ingredients are harvested sustainably and consciously on the West coast… and their package design is lovely too!

7. Low Poly Crafts // Paper Kits and Pre-Made Animal Heads

If you’re feeling ambitious these amazing animal head kits from Low Poly Crafts will keep your hands busy! These awesome kits come with all the pre-scored pieces you need to make an animal head… all you need is glue… and lots of patience!
